Neuro-linguistic programming emerged in the Californian University of Santa Cruz in the early 1970s. The concept sprang from the ideas of Richard Bandler, a master’s level student of information sciences and mathematics, and Dr John Grinder, a professor of linguistics. They both started to study individuals that excelled in communication and were considered to be agents of change. It was the fascination towards the way in which certain people managed to defy the odds to get through to difficult or very ill persons that made these two researchers persevere.
